– 1 tablespoon olive oil

– 1/2 cup diced onion

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

– 2 tablespoons tomato paste

– 1 (14.5 ounce) can diced tomatoes, undrained

– 1/2 cup dry white wine

– 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

– 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

– 1/4 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

– 1 pound uncooked penne pasta

– 2 tablespoons butter

– 1/2 cup cream

– 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

– 1 pound cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined

– 1/2 pound lump crabmeat, picked over for shells


1. Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the onion, garlic, and red pepper flakes, and cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

2. Stir in the tomato paste, diced tomatoes, white wine, parsley, thyme, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer, and cook for 10 minutes.

3. Meanwhile, cook the pasta in a large pot of boiling water according to package directions. Drain and return the pasta to the pot.

4. Stir the butter, cream, and Parmesan cheese into the sauce until well blended. Add the shrimp and crabmeat, and cook until heated through, about 5 minutes.
