  • 1 pound fresh shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup white wine
  • 1/4 cup vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro


1. In a large saucepan, bring the shrimp, olive oil, onion, garlic, curry powder, ginger, cardamom, cloves, cinnamon, and black pepper to a boil over medium-high heat.

2. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the shrimp are cooked through.

3. Add the diced tomatoes, chickpeas, orange juice, white wine, vegetable broth, honey, and cilantro and simmer for 10 minutes.

4. Serve hot.
